  • KARNES COUNTY ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATION: Part-time Elections Clerk

    Job Type: Part Time (20 hours per week – except during election season hours will be more)

    Pay: $20,000 – Hourly: $19.23

    Reports to: Elections Administrator

    This position requires a flexible schedule and will report to the Elections Administrator.  The applicant must be able to work various hours during election season and not take off work during election season.  
    Requires some 13-hour workdays on voting days and also some weekend hours.  Previous Elections experience is preferred.  Responsible for the election polling location preparation of election supplies and voting equipment. Delivery of supplies and equipment and set up of the polling locations.  
    Skilled in use of Microsoft programs.  Must have own vehicle and driver’s license.  Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.

  • The Karnes County Sheriff Department is hiring for a full-time maintenance position that will be responsible for the maintaining and daily repairs of the Sheriff Department offices and Karnes County Jail.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Responsible for fixing, repairing and building any items that are needed to run the Karnes County Sheriff department offices and Karnes County Jail
    • Responsible for outside grounds to include mowing, edging and maintaining plants
    • Order and maintain adequate supplies for the jail
    • Maintain all paperwork associated with maintaining the facilities
    • Utilize available inmate labor required to keep the facilities in good condition

    Physical Demands / Working Conditions

    • Frequent standing
    • Frequent walking
    • Frequent heavy work
    • Constant eye/hand coordination
    • Occasional lifting or carrying

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Basic reading skills
    • Report writing skills
    • Interpersonal skills
    • At least 6 months experience
    • Pre-employment drug screening and background check
    • Preferred TCOLE jailers license
